A foreigner who was on the international wanted list has been extradited to Kazakhstan from Vietnam. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the investigation, in 2022–2023, the suspect, together with an accomplice, organized illegal gambling in Almaty, generating criminal proceeds of over 12 million tenge.
"After committing the crime, one accomplice was brought to criminal responsibility, while the other hid from the prosecution authorities and was put on the wanted list," the statement said.
In February of this year, he was detained in Vietnam and, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, extradited to Kazakhstan. Currently, the suspect is in a pre-trial detention center.
Such a crime carries a penalty of confiscation of property and up to 5 years in prison.
