A ceremony to hand over the soldier's medallion of Kazakh fighter Abduali Zhylysbayev, who died during the Great Patriotic War, was held in Moscow. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The medallion was presented by Anton Torgashev, commander of the Russian search team "Military Archaeology," to Daulet Abayev, Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Russia. Abduali Zhylysbayev was born in 1917.

He was drafted into the army in 1939 and died on June 25, 1941, near Bialystok. For more than seventy years since then, he had been listed as missing in action.

Only in 2014, during the international search expedition "Serebryanaya Gorka," were his remains found. That same year, the Kazakh soldier was buried in the fraternal cemetery in the Polish town of Hajnówka.

After that, searches for the soldier's relatives began, but for 12 years there was no result. Only thanks to the work in archives by the Kazakh search team "Yerlik-Danq" and the Russian "Iskatel" was contact established with his relatives.

With the support of the Kazakh Ministry of Defense, Abduali Zhylysbayev's medallion will soon be delivered to his homeland and handed over to his relatives.
