Greek companies are planning to produce elevators and dairy products in Kazakhstan. Doppler is working on launching elevator equipment production in Astana, while Desserta Hellas is considering building a dairy plant in Akmola Region. These initiatives are among five Greek investment projects worth $122 million currently being prepared in Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Talks and statement

The joint projects were discussed by Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Ardak Zebeshev and Greek Ambassador Antonia Katsourou. In addition to elevator and dairy production, the companies are considering projects in industrial and household waste processing and solar energy.

"Greek business interest in Kazakhstan is becoming increasingly practical, and now is the time to move from general agreements to concrete economic results. We are ready to accompany every investor – from the first negotiations to the launch of the enterprise," Zebeshev said.

About Doppler

Doppler is a Greek elevator manufacturer founded in 2000. Its head office and factory are located in the city of Polikastro. The company produces passenger and freight elevators, car lifts and components, according to its official website. The ministry has not yet specified exactly what products are planned to be produced in Astana, how much will be invested in the project, or when the enterprise will be launched.

About Desserta Hellas

Desserta Hellas was founded in Greece in 1996. It represents the products of the Austrian dairy cooperative Berglandmilch in Greece, Cyprus and the Balkans. The range includes milk, fermented dairy products, butter and cheeses. In 2024, the company acquired the cheese-making enterprise Doriki and began developing its own production.

The Greek newspaper Kathimerini calls Desserta Hellas a subsidiary of Berglandmilch. After purchasing Doriki, it received a feta production plant in Episkopiko, near Ioannina, and a milk collection point in the Andravida area.

In July 2026, Desserta Hellas and Berglandmilch already discussed milk processing and the production of cheeses and yogurts with the Kazakh side. According to Kazakh Invest, several options were considered: own production, a joint venture with local partners, or a gradual transition from supplies to production in Kazakhstan. The delegation also visited the Astana Өнім farm in Akmola Region.

Investment cooperation

Nearly 50 enterprises with Greek capital operate in Kazakhstan. In total, the cooperation portfolio between the two countries includes eight investment projects worth $133.5 million.

One of them is already being implemented: the company SABO is building three solid household waste processing plants in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey and Aktobe.

METLEN Energy & Metals is studying the possibility of processing metallurgical waste and extracting copper, zinc, nickel, cobalt and other critical metals from it.

Trade ties

Oil remains the basis of trade between the countries. Kazakhstan is the second-largest supplier of crude oil to Greece: it accounts for about 24% of Greek oil imports.

In 2025, trade turnover between the countries amounted to $2.4 billion. In January–July 2026, it reached $1.5 billion — 7% more than in the same period last year.
