The head of Kazakhstan's National Olympic Committee, Gennady Golovkin, has been elected vice-president of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA). This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The election took place today, September 12, during the 15th General Assembly of ISSA, held in the Saudi city of Taif.
Executive committee composition
Gennady Golovkin was appointed to the Executive Committee for 2026-2029 as vice-president responsible for the Asia and Europe regions.
Saudi Arabia's sports minister, head of the country's Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, was re-elected to the post of ISSA president.
Golovkin's positions
He has served as president of Kazakhstan's NOC since February 2024.
In November 2025, Gennady Golovkin was elected president of the World Boxing organization. Thus, he became the first Kazakhstani to head an international federation for Olympic sports.
