A resident of East Kazakhstan region has surrendered a firearm over a century old to the police. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Polisia.kz.
On April 20, a republican campaign for voluntary surrender of firearms, ammunition and explosives began in East Kazakhstan. Residents of the region have been actively participating: to date, 49 units of firearms have been voluntarily handed over to police departments.
As part of the paid surrender campaign for illegally stored weapons, a unique item was handed over to the police. "Among ordinary hunting rifles, experts paid special attention to the legendary self-loading pistol of the Browning system, model 1900 (caliber 7.65 mm). This is one of the world's first serial self-loading pistols, created by the famous gunsmith John Moses Browning," the statement said.
The pistol underwent forensic ballistic examination, which confirmed it was in working order. Despite its age, the weapon retained its combat qualities. Specialists managed to restore part of the serial number using chemical treatment.
It is worth recalling that citizens who voluntarily surrender weapons are fully exempt from criminal and administrative liability, provided their actions contain no signs of other offenses.
