California Governor Gavin Newsom has put his Sacramento-area mansion up for sale before his term ends in January. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing The Guardian.

The Spanish-style home in Fair Oaks, a suburb of the California capital, with 12 bathrooms and seven bedrooms, hit the market on Monday with an asking price of $7.5 million. The estate sits on an 8.2-acre (3.3-hectare) parcel of land. According to a Zillow listing from realtors Matthew Hindy and Nick Sadek, the property boasts a full-size tennis court, a 5,000-bottle wine cellar, a pool, a cold plunge, and a hot tub.
Newsom's political plans
Newsom, elected California governor in 2018, is openly considering running for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028.
History of the move
The governor and his family moved into the Fair Oaks property in 2019, after briefly living at the historic governor's mansion in Sacramento. A spokesperson at the time described the estate as "more kid-friendly," according to the Sacramento Bee.
Family residences
The Newsoms have since split their time between Sacramento and Marin County, an affluent area north of San Francisco, where they also own property. Newsom enrolled his children in Marin County schools in 2024.
Events at the house
In 2020, the Fair Oaks mansion was the site of a protest where protesters chained themselves to its fence to denounce rising California prison deaths amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The property also received attention when Newsom used it to host a 2024 political fundraiser for Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who was then campaigning as the Democratic vice-presidential candidate.
