Authorities in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt and Leipzig are preparing for youth protests planned for October 31. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The organizer is the youth association "Gen Z regelt" ("Generation Z decides", also known as "Gen Z steht auf"). Tens of thousands of schoolchildren and students have already joined the demonstrations, and the Federal Conference of School Students in Germany has officially supported their demands.
The movement's manifesto is directed against the policy of harsh austerity at the expense of the younger generation.
German agencies are coordinating their actions with the authorities of France and Italy. The security services' concern is due to two factors:
- 01Experience of neighboring countries: Since the end of September, a wave of large-scale student riots has swept across Europe (in France, Italy, Spain and Greece). In some French and Italian cities, peaceful demonstrations escalated into harsh clashes with police, arson and looting.
- 02Risk of radicalization: Although the leaders of "Gen Z regelt" declare that the actions are exclusively peaceful and non-violent, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution of Germany is actively monitoring social networks. The German Interior Ministry fears that left-wing radical and extremist groups will try to use student protests as a cover to create street chaos on Halloween night, when pyrotechnics are traditionally set off in the streets.
The police and the German Police Union (GdP) say they are ready to give a decisive rebuff to any instigators of unrest. To prevent the influx of foreign radicals, German border guards may deny entry to suspicious individuals directly at the border.
Earlier, "Kursiv" wrote about the unrest in Italy, in particular in Milan, where 500 soldiers were to be sent to strengthen street patrols.
And also in France. It was reported that in Paris, due to mass unrest, a local curfew was introduced from 22:00 to 06:00. The restrictions came into force on the evening of Monday, October 19, 2026.
