Markus Frohnmaier, a Bundestag deputy from the opposition Alternative for Germany party, said Berlin should not enter into a direct conflict with Russia. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"Germany must first protect the interests of its own people. Our main task is not to provide unlimited security guarantees to Ukraine, but to think about the situation of our own citizens. We must neither ignore Germany's interests nor enter into a direct conflict with Russia," he wrote on social network X.
Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that it is impossible to develop security guarantees for Ukraine without Russia's participation. He thus responded to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's opinion that Moscow should not be involved in this process.
