Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katherina Reiche, the Akorda press service reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the president emphasized that Kazakhstan attaches particular importance to developing strategic partnership with the Federal Republic of Germany. According to the head of state, Germany is one of the country's largest trade and investment partners.

"Since 2005, over $8 billion in direct investment has been attracted to Kazakhstan's economy. The majority of it is in the non-resource sector. Today, more than a thousand companies with German capital are successfully operating in the country. Among them are industrial giants such as CLAAS, Horsch, Siemens, BASF, Heidelberg Materials, Siemens Energy, Knauf, and Linde," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The president confirmed that the Kazakh side is ready to create the necessary conditions for more German businesses to enter the market.

Katherina Reiche noted that Kazakhstan is Germany's major trade and economic partner in the region, and there is great potential for expanding bilateral cooperation.

The meeting paid special attention to prospects for intensifying cooperation in energy, industry, digitalization, extraction and processing of rare earth metals, and transport and logistics infrastructure.
