Specifications of the new Geely Galaxy M8 crossover have become known in China. The model is built on the Galaxy M9 platform but instead of six seats it received a five-seat interior. At the same time, in terms of dimensions it fully repeats the older model, and its battery is even larger. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Dimensions and Exterior Design
The length of the new model is 5205 mm, width – 1999 mm, height – 1800 mm, wheelbase – 3030 mm. A lidar is visible on the roof. The crossover is offered with 20- and 21-inch wheels, and golden emblems can be ordered separately. The curb weight will be 2470 kg for the front-wheel-drive version and 2620 kg for the all-wheel-drive version.
Powertrain and Battery
The Galaxy M8 received a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 163 hp. Data on the power of the electric motors has not yet been disclosed. The CATL battery has a capacity of 53.42 kWh.
The electric-only range will be 231–251 km depending on the version. For comparison, the Galaxy M9 is equipped with batteries of 18.4 and 41.5 kWh, and its electric-only range does not exceed 210 km on the CLTC cycle.
Market Launch Prospects
The Galaxy M8 has already appeared in the certification database of China's Ministry of Industry. The crossover is expected to debut on the local market in the coming months. Prices have not yet been disclosed.
Earlier, Kursiv Auto reported that Geely had launched a recall campaign for nearly 93 thousand vehicles due to faulty lidars.
