A video of a Chinese crossover Geely Atlas Pro, which after three winters of use in Belarus and 95,000 km of mileage turned out to be covered with corrosion, is gaining popularity online. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

In the video, a mechanic says that a 2022 Geely Atlas Pro was brought to the service center. After inspecting the underbody, he stated that the "situation is sad": corrosion appeared on almost all elements of the body from below.

"Rust is already coming from the metal joints. Everything is peeling. Plus, in the hidden cavities, the situation is exactly the same," the author comments.

He also claims that the beams, side members, reinforcements, wheel arches and attachment points of parts were covered with "red spots".

"There is not a single element on the bottom that corrosion has not affected. The owner will now have to remove the rust, prime the body and apply anti-corrosion treatment. Otherwise, after a few winters, the body will have to be welded."

What motorists say

The video sparked a lively discussion. Some believe the problem is related to factory body protection.

"People who write about the need for anti-corrosion treatment for a new car - what do you drive? Normal manufacturers do protection at the factory."

"Another Toyota killer... My Corolla, apparently, will outlive more than one generation of such Chinese cars."

Others are sure that in conditions of active use of reagents, additional treatment is needed for any car.

"In St. Petersburg, with salt, China, Japan, and Europe rot equally fast if you don't do anti-corrosion treatment."

Some users urged not to jump to conclusions.

"Author, clarify, was the car assembled in Borisov or in China?"

And this is indeed an important point, since the video does not specify the origin of the crossover. It is also unknown whether it underwent additional anti-corrosion treatment after purchase and under what conditions it was used.

Therefore, for Kazakhstani owners and buyers of Geely, this case cannot be considered proof of a problem. Official cars for the local market may differ in specification and anti-corrosion preparation. Moreover, the first-generation Atlas has already been discontinued and is now found only on the secondary market.

Earlier, Kursiv Avto reported how owners of Haval, Chery, Geely and Zeekr argued about the reliability of Chinese cars.
