The Open Eurasian Film Award 'Diamond Butterfly' has launched a new season, the Russian Embassy in Kazakhstan reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"For the Kazakh film community, this is an opportunity to become part of another international film award, present their films to a professional audience, expand creative and industrial ties, and participate in a dialogue about the future of cinema," the statement said.
The embassy noted that Kazakhstan has been among the countries interested in establishing the Eurasian Film Academy and the film award from the very beginning. Diplomats recalled that the presentation in Moscow in April 2025 was attended by representatives of more than 20 countries, including Kazakhstan.
"Representatives of Kazakhstan took part in the international film session 'Creativity Unites,' organized within the framework of the 'Diamond Butterfly' film award jointly with the Russian Cultural Foundation and the international educational project 'School of Innopractica,'" the statement said.
According to the diplomatic mission, the creative session was attended by young filmmakers from eight countries, including Kazakh director Diana Ibrayeva. The first award ceremony of the 'Diamond Butterfly' award took place on November 27, 2025, in Moscow.
The goal of the film award is to support cinema that promotes the most important human values and preserves cultural heritage. The second gala ceremony of the Open Eurasian Film Award 'Diamond Butterfly' will be held in Moscow.
