France has recorded about 1,000 excess deaths during the heatwave compared to previous months. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The figure is expected to rise as more information on deaths in nursing homes and private residences becomes available. The increase was recorded in areas where a red weather alert was issued in recent days.
In mid-June, the heatwave that swept Europe broke temperature records. In several countries, air temperatures rose to 40 degrees Celsius, and in some places even higher.
