Two brothers in France are suspected of running a website where stolen intimate images of more than 17,000 women and girls from various countries were sold. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau, the brothers, aged 21 and 25, were detained on October 6 in the north of the country. During the investigation, cryptocurrency worth €700,000 — about $782,500 — was seized from them. US police and judicial authorities assisted the French investigators.

According to the prosecutor's office, the site NudeLeaksTeens sold "packages" of intimate photos and other materials. They were obtained in various ways: by hacking social media accounts, by gaining the trust of victims for sexual exploitation, or by using images that someone posted without the person's consent to take revenge.

Among the victims are minors.

Users of the site were also offered cryptocurrency for data that could identify the women and girls in the images.

Laure Beccuau urged victims to contact the French police unit for combating cybercrime.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Kazakhstanis would be punished for forwarding intimate photos and videos.
