France is proposing to limit the duration of permission for Ukraine to purchase weapons from non-European countries using the 90 billion euro credit allocated by the European Union. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Euronews, citing its sources, reported that France wants the majority of EU funds to be spent on supporting European, including French, defense industries.
According to the credit terms, Ukraine can purchase weapons from outside the EU and the European Economic Area. This is only possible if European manufacturers cannot supply the required volume of weapons, fail to produce them within the set timeframe, or offer too high a price. However, the share of such purchases must not exceed 35% of the total amount.
Earlier, the European Commission approved a decision to allocate an additional 6.1 billion euros for Ukraine to purchase air and missile defense systems, missiles, ammunition, and radars.
