The World Cup match between France and Iraq was suspended due to adverse weather conditions. After the first half, organizers announced a delay of at least 15 minutes due to lightning activity near the stadium. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing FOX Sports.

According to FOX Sports, organizers plan to resume the France-Iraq match at 04:00 Kazakhstan time, one hour after the break began. Fans in the open stands of Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia were advised to leave their seats and take shelter in safe zones until further notice.

At the time of suspension, France led 1-0. The only goal of the first half was scored by captain Kylian Mbappé in the 14th minute with a strike from outside the penalty area. Organizers had warned of possible weather issues before kickoff. Forecasters predicted rain and thunderstorms in Philadelphia on June 22, which could affect the match.

According to the updated safety protocol in effect at the tournament in the United States, the game must be stopped immediately if lightning strikes within approximately 13 kilometers of the venue. After each such event, the match is delayed by at least 30 minutes. If lightning is detected again, the countdown restarts. Organizers continue to monitor the weather, and the time for the second half remains undecided.
