FlyArystan flight FS-7131 Almaty — Pavlodar returned to its departure airport on October 20. Pavlodar could not carry out the mandatory de-icing treatment of the aircraft. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Return and cancellation
According to the carrier, the weather forecast in Pavlodar worsened during the flight. Precipitation was expected, which would have required de-icing treatment before the next takeoff. After the return, the flight was cancelled, as was the return flight FS-7132 Pavlodar — Almaty.
“To prevent a situation in which the flight could not safely depart from Pavlodar, it was decided to return to Almaty,” FlyArystan said.
Why de-icing is required
The company explained that during precipitation and temperatures near zero, ice, frost or snow form on the aircraft surface, which degrade the aerodynamic characteristics of the wing. De-icing fluid removes deposits and protects against their re-formation. Without such treatment, departure in these conditions is prohibited by safety requirements.
