A shooting in Tallahassee, Florida, on Saturday injured 12 people, including six children, according to local police. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing BBC News.

The incident occurred at 20:00 local time (01:00 Sunday GMT) near Florida A&M University's Bragg Memorial Stadium, where a college football game had recently been played.

Eleven people were injured by gunfire, police said, while another person hurt their ankle while fleeing the scene. Six of the victims were children.

Anthony Rivers III, 15, has been charged with 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a delinquent.

Police said the shooting followed an altercation between people who knew each other and that additional arrests were possible.

None of the victims appear to have been the intended targets, they said in a statement.

"What should have been a weekend of celebration in our community instead became a night of fear and violence for the victims and their families," Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell said.

"We remain committed to holding those responsible accountable and getting answers for every family impacted by this tragedy."

Police said on Sunday that six people were in hospital, including one person who was in a critical condition. Five people had been released.

Revell told a press conference on Sunday that police had had to carry victims in their arms to get them to emergency responders because of the crowds from the football game.

The incident happened close to Florida A&M University's campus. The Bragg Memorial Stadium is the venue for college football games.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and further information will be released as it becomes available.
