Flick unhappy with Torres' comments on possible Barcelona exit

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick was displeased with Ferran Torres' public statements about his future at the Catalan club. Despite this, the German specialist still counts on the 26-year-old forward for the new season. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Goal.

Torres' comments

The reason was Torres' recent words, where he did not rule out leaving Barcelona. The Spaniard's current contract runs until the summer of 2027, but the player made it clear that he expects concrete actions from the club regarding a possible contract extension.

"Barcelona needs to show that they love me, they can come to negotiations, and in the end everything will be discussed," Torres said.

The forward also noted that he must return to the team's base on August 12, but does not know how the situation will develop further. According to him, circumstances in football can change very quickly, so he is ready for different options to continue his career.

Flick's reaction

As Goal writes, these statements did not please Flick. The German considers Torres an important part of the team and takes him into account when forming the attacking line for the new season. At the same time, the coach understands that the player's position on the transfer market may change within a few days.

There is also discontent within Barcelona's leadership. The club considers it wrong that Torres first voiced doubts about his future publicly rather than discussing them directly with team representatives. Some executives suggest that the player is trying to increase pressure on the club ahead of negotiations for a new contract.

PSG interest

The situation is developing against the backdrop of interest from PSG. The French club has not yet sent an official offer to Barcelona, but in Catalonia they expect it may arrive in the coming days.

Despite the tension, Flick's position remains the same – the coach wants to keep Torres and gives him a prominent role in his team. Further development of the situation will largely depend on whether PSG's interest turns into official negotiations.
