This summer, a secret meeting was due to take place in Finland between US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner with a Ukrainian delegation, but the meeting was cancelled at the last moment. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat reported on this. "A secret meeting on the Ukraine issue was planned in Finland, which Trump's special representatives were supposed to attend," the article says.

According to the publication, the meeting was to discuss peace initiatives, which were then to be presented to Russian President Vladimir Putin. In particular, Zelensky discussed this meeting during a phone call with Witkoff and Kushner in late July.

As the newspaper specifies, the talks were cancelled at the last moment amid escalating conflict between the US and Iran.

In October, Russian President Vladimir Putin informed US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff that Russia was ready to resume negotiations on Ukraine in a trilateral format in the first ten days of November.

Last Tuesday, multilateral talks on settling the situation in Ukraine were held in Oslo. They were attended by Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Steve Witkoff. And the US President's son-in-law Jared Kushner joined the talks online.

The next day, a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Steve Witkoff took place in St. Petersburg. Putin informed the US President's special envoy that Moscow was ready to resume negotiations on Ukraine in a trilateral format in the first ten days of November.
