Over the past three years, the production volume of Kazakh pharmaceutical enterprises has grown by 37% and reached 191 billion tenge. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Positive dynamics continue in 2026: in the first half of the year, medicines and medical devices worth 126.6 billion tenge were produced, which is 30% more than in the previous year.
Number of manufacturers
More than 200 manufacturers of pharmaceutical and medical products operate in Kazakhstan. Of these, 43 enterprises produce medicines. The share of domestic products in physical terms reached 40.3%.
Investments
Investments in the pharmaceutical industry in 2025 increased by 56% and reached $142.8 million. Eight large projects for the construction and expansion of pharmaceutical production facilities with a total value of 391.3 billion tenge are being implemented.
New projects
Their launch will allow organizing the production of more than 494 medicines, including drugs for the treatment of oncological, cardiovascular and infectious diseases, as well as diabetes mellitus. New enterprises will appear in Almaty, Shymkent, as well as in Almaty and Karaganda regions. It is planned to create about 1.2 thousand permanent jobs.
