The European Commission, as part of a two-year €90 billion credit package, has transferred another €1 billion of the previously promised €6 billion to Ukraine for the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"Today the European Commission transferred another €1 billion to Ukraine for the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles. This is the second payment under the first €6 billion tranche allocated for this purpose," the statement said.
The European Commission noted that these funds are intended to develop Ukraine's capacity to purchase drones. This is not a new financial aid package. The funds are being allocated under a credit program totaling up to €90 billion, adopted by the European Union in early 2026.
Of this amount, up to €45 billion is planned for allocation in 2026, including support for Ukraine's state budget and the development of its defense industry. On June 30, the European Commission transferred the first tranche of €3.9 billion to Ukraine for drone purchases. A few days earlier, on June 25, Kyiv received initial macro-financial assistance of €3.2 billion under this program.
