The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted a written declaration expressing support for political and constitutional reforms in Kazakhstan. The document is dedicated to the results of the national referendum held on March 15, 2026. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The author of the declaration is PACE deputy Mehmet Akalın (Turkey), a member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe group. The document was signed by 22 parliamentarians representing various political groups and national delegations of European countries.
The declaration called the referendum an important stage in Kazakhstan's institutional transformation and modernization of the public administration system. The authors welcomed the course towards a more balanced governance model, strengthening accountability mechanisms, expanding citizens' access to constitutional justice, and enhancing guarantees for the protection of human rights.
PACE also noted the constructive interaction between Kazakhstan and the Council of Europe within the framework of existing cooperation mechanisms. According to parliamentarians, such dialogue facilitates the exchange of experience in constitutional development, the rule of law, and human rights protection.
Furthermore, the authors of the declaration expressed readiness to support Kazakhstan's further efforts to strengthen democratic governance and the rule of law, calling the country a reliable partner in the Eurasian region.
Earlier, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev repeatedly stated that the implementation of political reforms is aimed at further modernizing public administration and developing the principle of a 'Just Kazakhstan'.
