The 21st package of EU sanctions against Russia may be the last, the Financial Times reported, citing European officials. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"It has now become clear that this approach does not work," one of the newspaper's sources said. According to the newspaper, the European Union may abandon major packages of restrictive measures due to disagreements between countries.
Recently, diplomats were unable to agree on sanctions for a long time due to Greece's objection to a ban on transporting Russian liquefied natural gas to third countries. Brussels is currently considering a new approach to this issue, the Financial Times reported.
The EU Council approved the 21st package of restrictions on Thursday. It includes restrictions on Russia's energy, financial and defense sectors, as well as expanding sanctions lists of individuals and organizations.
