The European Union has demanded that Kyiv carry out necessary reforms in order to provide financial assistance to Ukraine. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the British newspaper Financial Times, European Commissioners Valdis Dombrovskis and Marta Kos sent a letter to the speaker of Ukraine's parliament. The letter notes that Ukraine can still count on additional financial assistance in 2026 as before, but for this it must implement the required reforms.
According to the publication, the letter emphasizes that any weakening of Ukraine's financial monitoring system regarding politically significant individuals in the country is unacceptable.
Earlier, European Commissioner for Economy Valdis Dombrovskis, in an interview with the Euractiv portal, said that Ukraine's main budgetary needs for 2026 have already been financed, despite Kyiv's statements about an additional funding shortfall.
In addition, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged in late August that a budget deficit of 27 billion dollars had emerged in the country. He asked Europe to provide part of the funds planned for next year already now.
EU representatives, noting that early allocation of funds could create additional problems by 2027, urged Ukraine to carry out the necessary reforms that would allow it to receive the previously envisaged financial assistance.
