The European Union will transfer another 3.3 billion euros to Ukraine for the purchase of drones and missiles, including American Patriot missiles. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
This was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen after a phone call with Volodymyr Zelensky. "Tomorrow we will transfer another 3.3 billion euros to Ukraine for the purchase of missiles and drones," von der Leyen said.
According to her, last week the European Commission approved financing for the purchase of Patriot systems under the Ukraine Support Loan.
At that time, the EU announced it would allocate 6.1 billion euros for Ukraine's purchase of air and missile defense systems, ammunition, drones and electronic warfare systems.
Von der Leyen also stated her intention to use the remaining funds from the SAFE program to launch a new program of joint defense projects between the EU and Ukraine.
The European Commission President noted that since the beginning of the year, the EU has mobilized about 15 billion euros in assistance to Ukraine and plans to continue financing.
Earlier, the EU agreed to provide Ukraine with a 90 billion euro loan for 2026-2027, of which 60 billion euros are intended to strengthen defense capabilities and the defense industry, and 30 billion euros for budget support.
