The European Union plans to provide Ukraine with a new loan of €9.1 billion in June. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to European Commission spokesman Balazs Ujvari, of the allocated funds, €5.9 billion will go to military expenses, and €3.2 billion to budget support.
"We are talking about €9.1 billion. Therefore, this money will reach Ukraine this month. Part of it will go to defense needs (€5.9 billion) and €3.2 billion to budget support," he told reporters.
Ujvari said the first transactions will begin in the second half of the month.
Russia believes that arms supplies to Ukraine hinder a settlement and directly draw NATO countries into the conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that any shipments of weapons to Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia.
