The European Commission has proposed adding €100 billion to a new support program for Ukraine, said European Council President António Costa. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Costa said the issue of the EU's new budget is currently being discussed with member states. The European Commission's proposal includes a new cooperation program with Ukraine worth up to €100 billion.
Under the EU's current plan, Ukraine is to receive a loan of €90 billion, with approximately €45 billion allocated in each of 2026 and 2027. Of this year's funds, €28.3 billion is earmarked for defense needs, and another €17 billion for budget support.
Of the defense funds, the European Commission has so far approved procurement lists valued at around €22 billion, of which €8.5 billion has been transferred to Ukraine.
Russia has repeatedly criticized Western financial and military support for Kyiv. Moscow has stated that arms deliveries to Ukraine prolong the conflict and hinder its resolution.
