On the second day of the summit in Brussels, European Union leaders are discussing Ukraine's 2027 budget deficit. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

This was stated by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen ahead of negotiations with the participation of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. "We will discuss not only your financial, budgetary and military needs for 2026, but also for the next year, 2027," von der Leyen said, addressing Zelensky. The heads of the European Commission and the European Council appeared before the media together with Volodymyr Zelensky.

Thus, they demonstrated support for Kyiv amid the latest US attempts to stop the conflict in Ukraine. Earlier, European Commissioner for Economy Valdis Dombrovskis stated that Ukraine's financial need for 2027 could exceed the 45 billion euros being considered by the EU.

According to him, Brussels is seeking additional funds from international partners. This issue is also being considered within the framework of consultations with the Group of Seven (G7) countries and the International Monetary Fund.

In addition, the EU has approved a loan of 90 billion euros for Ukraine for 2026-2027. Of this, 60 billion euros are directed to military needs, and 30 billion euros to budget support. However, EU countries do not want to further increase the volume of this financing.
