The first tranche of the European Union's 90 billion euro loan was delivered to Kyiv behind schedule. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

European Commission spokesperson Paula Pinho responded to the issue with 'better late than never'. Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the Commission intended to transfer the first tranche of 3.2 billion euros to Ukraine on Thursday, part of a new 90 billion euro loan.

'Better late than never can be said regarding this loan,' Pinho said at a briefing, answering a question about possible delays in subsequent tranches.

On Wednesday, Euractiv reported that the European Union is excluding funds intended for military spending, especially for financing the production of unmanned aerial vehicles, from the initial payment.
