The European Commission plans to ban Russians who participated in the special military operation in Ukraine from entering the Schengen area, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

For this purpose, a list of Russians who participated in the special military operation is expected to be compiled. "This is including them in the list of ban on entry into the Schengen area, which includes preventing their entry into Europe," Kallas said while answering a question about the appropriateness of the ban during a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg.

She noted that she is not an expert on visa issues, but according to specialists, this is possible. Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, announcing proposals for the 21st package of sanctions against Russia, stated that the EU proposes to ban entry into the area for those who have served in the Russian Armed Forces since the start of the special military operation.
