Kazakhstan's Ministry of Trade and Integration links fluctuations in meat prices to rising global demand for meat. This was stated by the head of the department Arman Shakkaliyev. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"The reasons for the price increase are known to everyone. Today we see a very high demand for meat in general. Last year we monitored the indicators of the World Food Organization. And events in the Persian Gulf influenced fluctuations in lamb prices," Shakkaliyev said.
According to the minister, currently there is no sharp rise in meat prices in Kazakhstan. "We do not see a sharp jump in prices. Prices, of course, change, but overall they are stable. Today there are no delays in the supply of livestock products," the trade minister said.
According to him, now on the market a kilogram of beef on the bone costs 3,700 tenge, and in retail chains the price is slightly higher.
According to the Bureau of National Statistics, since the beginning of the year, lamb in Kazakhstan has risen in price by 17%, horse meat by 4.4%, and chicken by 5%.
