Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had proposed the candidacy of Yerlan Koshanov for the position of chairman of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan. According to the results of the vote, Yerlan Koshanov was elected chairman of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of the position, noting that it has constitutional status and is authoritative.
"This is an authoritative position with constitutional status. Therefore, a citizen well known to the country, who will serve as a link between the people and the authorities, must come to this position. Taking all this into account, I propose the candidacy of Yerlan Zhakanuly Koshanov," Tokayev said.
The head of state noted that Yerlan Koshanov had worked for many years in the civil service system, performed this work with honor, and as chairman of the Mazhilis actively contributed to the implementation of large-scale reforms.
"I am confident that now, as chairman of the People's Assembly, he will work successfully and make a significant contribution to strengthening public accord. Therefore, I hope that you will pay close attention to the candidacy of Yerlan Zhakanuly Koshanov and support it," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Thus, according to the results of the vote, Yerlan Koshanov was elected chairman of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan.
