Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree appointing Erlan Karin as first deputy head of the presidential administration. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Previously, Erlan Karin served as state advisor. This position will be abolished on July 1 when the new Constitution comes into force. In 2022, Tokayev introduced the position of state advisor instead of state secretary and appointed Karin to it.
In addition, over the years Karin served as secretary of the National Council of Public Trust under the President of Kazakhstan, deputy chairman of the National Kurultai, head of the working group on parliamentary reform, and deputy chairman of the Commission on Constitutional Reform.
