Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Bishkek that Ankara is ready to help establish peace in Ukraine. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Erdogan noted that Turkey plays an important role in peaceful resolution of conflicts in the region. He expressed hope for a swift peaceful end to the war between Russia and Ukraine.
"Both Mr. Putin and I want the war between Russia and Ukraine to end peacefully as soon as possible. We hope that the process of peaceful negotiations between Russia and Ukraine will begin sooner and peace will be established in the region," the Turkish leader said.
Erdogan also said he assured Putin of Turkey's readiness to do everything possible to establish peace.
This statement reflects Turkey's active stance in resolving the Ukrainian crisis. Ankara has previously expressed readiness to mediate between Russia and Ukraine.
