Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed that he plans to discuss possible steps to resolve the conflict in Ukraine with US President Donald Trump. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Earlier, a diplomatic source in Ankara reported that during the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, the heads of state would discuss the issue of the conflict in Ukraine.

"We will discuss the conflict in Ukraine and possible steps in this direction with Mr. Trump," Erdogan said.

Turkey has established contacts with both Russia and Ukraine and has previously repeatedly stated its readiness to offer a platform for new negotiations.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan earlier stated that if the parties have political will, Ankara is ready to help resume the negotiation process.
