The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan has explained the selection procedure for Kazakh citizens to work in the Republic of Korea through the Employment Permit System (EPS). This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Practical selection will begin after the opening of the EPS center in Almaty. This center will assess candidates' Korean language proficiency through the EPS-TOPIK test. Additionally, their professional knowledge and skills will be evaluated. Mandatory training for workers will also be organized before departure to the Republic of Korea.
Selection Requirements
During the selection, the citizen's education, work experience, and available professional certificates are taken into account. "Young people aged 18 to 39 can participate in going to work in Korea. It is also taken into account that the citizen has no criminal record, has not been previously forcibly deported from the Republic of Korea, and is not banned from entering the country. There must also be no restrictions on leaving Kazakhstan. Candidates are evaluated using a point system according to established requirements," the statement said.
Inclusion in the Official List
Citizens who meet the necessary requirements and successfully pass all stages are included in the official list of job seekers. This requires a valid passport and passing a medical examination. Personal information includes education, professional experience, certificates, test results, and the type of job they would like to obtain. Based on this information, Korean employers can select the desired worker among citizens who have passed the established selection stages.
Passing the Exam Does Not Guarantee Employment
It is important to note: passing the exam and being included in the official candidate list does not mean automatic employment in Korea. The right to final selection of candidates belongs to the Korean employer. That is, the employer chooses the appropriate worker from the registered candidates.
The number of Kazakh citizens hired to work in the Republic of Korea under the EPS system is set annually in accordance with the quota determined by the Korean side.
If a Korean Employer Selects You
After the employer selects a candidate, they offer an employment contract. Before signing, the employee is explained the type of work, working hours, working conditions, and other important requirements. After both parties sign, the original employment contract is given to the employee.
For a citizen going to work in Korea, a preliminary training stage is provided. It is conducted at the EPS center in Almaty. After completing the training and obtaining a work visa, the citizen departs to the workplace in Korea.
Duration of Work
Under the EPS system, the work period can be up to three years. In cases provided by law, this period can be extended by another one year and ten months. Workers who fully complete the established work period and voluntarily return to Kazakhstan are provided with more favorable conditions for subsequent re-entry to the Republic of Korea.
Warning
The Ministry of Labor warns citizens planning to work in Korea to use only official information from state bodies and authorized organizations. Citizens should not give their documents or money to private intermediaries who promise "guaranteed employment," "fast selection," or "inclusion in the candidate list outside the established procedure." No private intermediary can guarantee a citizen employment in Korea, as the final selection of candidates is carried out by the Korean employer.
