The European Union, despite a proposal to cut the bloc's overall seven-year budget by 159 billion euros, intends to keep without reductions a funding reserve of 100 billion euros for Ukraine for 2028-2034. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to a European Council negotiating document cited by RIA Novosti, the document states: "The European Union will continue to provide financial support to Ukraine in the process of joining the EU and long-term recovery. Between 2028 and 2034, the reserve for Ukraine will provide support of up to 88.869 billion euros."

This amount is calculated in 2025 prices and corresponds to approximately 100 billion euros.

The European Commission's initial proposal envisaged 100.002 billion euros for Ukraine, as follows from the document. In the new draft by the Irish presidency of the EU Council, this amount remained unchanged, although Ireland proposed reducing the total volume of EU spending for 2028-2034 from the initial 1.985 trillion euros to 1.826 trillion, or by approximately 8%.

Thus, the EU plans to continue financial support for Ukraine but seeks to save by cutting overall budget expenditures.
