Negotiations between Kazakhstan and the European Union on visas and readmission cannot serve as a basis for accepting obligations to receive foreign citizens. This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yerlan Zhetibayev. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"The Kazakh side has not conducted negotiations with the European Union or its member states regarding the reception, detention, transit transportation, or creation of placement centers for persons who are not citizens of Kazakhstan and are subject to return or deportation from European states," said the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yerlan Zhetibayev.
During his visit to Brussels, Tokayev also noted progress in negotiations on simplifying the visa regime for the country's citizens.
