Kazakh universities in 2026 provide applicants with more than two thousand own educational grants. In addition, universities offer tuition discounts and named scholarships. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, each university independently determines the number of grants, application deadlines, and selection criteria. This takes into account UNT results, academic achievements, the presence of the 'Altyn belgi' award, victories in olympiads and competitions, as well as the social status of applicants.
Offers from individual universities
The International Kazakh-Turkish University named after Khoja Akhmet Yassawi received 500 educational quotas from Turkey for the 2026–2027 academic year. Documents for the competition are accepted from August 10 to 15. Citizens of Kazakhstan with a valid UNT certificate and a result not lower than the university's established passing score can participate.
The Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University allocated 125 internal grants to winners of IT olympiads, projects, and competitions for talented schoolchildren. Two more grants, fully covering tuition, are provided to graduates of organizations for orphans and children left without parental care, and the 'Atameken' children's village.
The D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University has 94 grants. They can be obtained based on the results of the EKTU QUIZ-2026, 'Aqyldy Awards 2026', EKTU STAR 2026, and 'Choose EKTU – choose the future' competitions. The duration of study at the expense of the grant ranges from one to four years.
The Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University allocated 19 rector's grants. They are intended, among others, for orphans, applicants with UNT scores above 100 who did not receive a state grant, and winners of olympiads.
The S. Utebayev Atyrau University of Oil and Gas will provide 20 rector's grants to winners of regional olympiads and graduates of 'Zerdeli' schools.
The Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University has 12 own grants, and the Rudny Industrial University allocated 10 rector's grants for socially vulnerable categories of applicants.
At the Karaganda Industrial University, students with high academic results can continue their studies at the expense of the university after the first year.
Named grants and discounts
In addition, in the 2026–2027 academic year, a named grant in honor of Nariman Ishmukhamedov was established. It fully covers tuition and provides a monthly stipend of 150 thousand tenge.
Satbayev University attracts grants from employers and subsoil user companies. In the 2025–2026 academic year, more than 538 students received such support. Priority is given to socially vulnerable students studying in priority specialties of the energy sector.
At the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, applicants with a UNT score of 100 or higher can receive a university grant. Academic achievements and victories in olympiads are also taken into account during selection.
At 'Turan-Astana', holders of the 'Altyn belgi' who scored more than 100 on the UNT are provided with a rector's grant for the entire period of study.
The Ozbekali Zhanibekov South Kazakhstan Pedagogical University provides a 100% discount to holders of the 'Altyn belgi' who scored more than 100 points but did not receive a state grant.
At the Alkey Margulan Pavlodar Pedagogical University, holders of the 'Altyn belgi' who enrolled in teacher training programs in natural sciences can receive a 100% discount while maintaining a GPA of at least 3.5.
The Akhmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University offers the 'Qamqor', 'Komek', 'Zhardem', and 'Zerek' programs. The size of discounts for certain categories ranges from 15 to 100 percent.
The Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University has discounts in 14 categories. Support is provided for orphans, students with disabilities, representatives of low-income and large families, holders of the 'Altyn belgi', winners of olympiads, and other categories. The size of discounts ranges from 20 to 100 percent.
The conditions for obtaining own grants and discounts differ in different universities. Applicants are advised to clarify in advance the number of grants, application deadlines, and requirements for participants on the official websites of universities or in admissions committees.
