The Ministry of Energy has approved the professional standard "Digitalization and Application of Artificial Intelligence in Energy". This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The document was developed in accordance with the law "On Professional Qualifications" and is aimed at forming modern professional requirements related to the digital transformation of the energy sector.
In accordance with the plan for the development and updating of professional standards for 2026, as well as the declaration of 2026 as the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, the project provides for new professions.
List of new professions
- 01Designer of intelligent (smart) networks.
- 02Engineer for the development and implementation of artificial intelligence in energy systems (Smart Grid).
- 03Specialist in cybersecurity of energy networks.
These professions will be used in the development of educational programs and training of personnel for the energy sector.
"The professional standard is applied in the fields of electric power and heat power engineering and covers types of economic activity related to the introduction and use of digital technologies, automation and data analysis systems, as well as the development and application of solutions based on artificial intelligence," the statement said.
Scope of the standard
The standard covers the processes of production, transmission, storage, distribution and consumption of electric and thermal energy. The document provides for the use of modern digital tools, including automated process control systems (APCS), dispatch and technological control systems (DTCS), Smart Grid technologies, digital data and resources, as well as solutions based on artificial intelligence.
In addition, the professional standard establishes unified approaches to the requirements for knowledge, skills and abilities of specialists working with digital technologies in the energy sector.
