Kazakhstan's Energy Ministry has commented on the incident near the marine terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the ministry, on July 30, the tanker Nissos Sifnos, while completing loading operations via the third berth, was attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the area of the loading manifold. Due to the threat of UAV attacks, CPC preemptively halted oil loading operations.
"Additionally, the tanker Marathi, scheduled for loading, was also attacked by UAVs at a distance of 6–7 nautical miles from the CPC marine terminal," the ministry said.
According to the Energy Ministry, there were no casualties among crew members, and no oil spill occurred. The fire caused by the attack was extinguished with the help of three CPC tugboats.
