Controversial influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate were detained in the US after British authorities filed dozens of new charges against them. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The total number of charges against the brothers has now reached 59.
According to the UK Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Andrew Tate faces seven new rape charges, as well as charges related to human trafficking for sexual exploitation and possession of child pornography.
Tristan Tate faces two new rape charges and three charges of organizing or facilitating human trafficking for sexual exploitation.
Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire police said Andrew Tate faces 42 charges in total, while his brother faces 17. According to the investigation, the crimes were committed between July 2010 and August 2017. The number of alleged victims has risen to seven.
According to BBC-News, after the detention, US authorities began extradition proceedings to send the brothers to the UK.
The brothers' lawyer, Joseph McBride, said his clients maintain their innocence. He described the new charges as a "politically motivated attack" and said the defense will seek their release.
Andrew and Tristan Tate are former world and European kickboxing champions who became well-known bloggers and influencers. After his sports career, Andrew Tate founded a network of webcam studios.
In 2022, an investigation into the brothers began in Romania. They were detained and placed under house arrest but later released. Subsequently, the brothers left the country. Romanian authorities accuse the Tates of forming a criminal group that allegedly recruited women and forced them into webcam and porn shoots using blackmail and violence.
In 2024, British police obtained European arrest warrants for the brothers' extradition from Romania. In June 2026, they also lost a legal bid to force the disclosure of their accusers' names in the UK.
