The Samruk-Kazyna fund announced the appointment of Yelzhas Otynshiyev as Chairman of the Board of NC Kazakhstan Railways JSC. Otynshiyev replaced Talgat Aldybergenov, who was dismissed by decree of President Tokayev. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The new head of Kazakhstan Railways is a graduate of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. He studied General and Applied Physics.
He began his career in 2007 as a consultant in the Business Valuation and Transaction Support department at Ernst & Young in Moscow. From 2009 to 2019, he worked at Samruk-Kazyna JSC and its subsidiaries.
From 2021 to 2023, he held leadership positions at KIDF, overseeing investment portfolio management. Since April 2023, he served as Managing Director for Strategy and Asset Management and a member of the Management Board at Samruk-Kazyna JSC.
"In this position, he was responsible for managing the Fund's portfolio companies in the oil and gas, railway, mining, and other sectors," the company reported. Otynshiyev has been a member of the Board of Directors of NC Kazakhstan Railways JSC since February 2024.
