The Ministry of Internal Affairs today explained the requirements for electric scooters that came into force. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the new rules, all rental electric scooters will receive registration numbers. This will help identify violators. Also, the scooter user must have an insurance policy.

Obligations of kick-sharing companies: - ensuring the technical condition of electric scooters; - monitoring their speed and location; - automatically limiting speed in designated areas; - preventing disorderly abandonment of scooters; - keeping records; - providing necessary data to internal affairs bodies.

According to Murat Kabdenov, chairman of the administrative police committee, if a scooter user does not have a driver's license, they must not ride on the roadway. Electric scooters must travel on bicycle paths or lanes. In their absence, movement is allowed on the right edge of the roadway, roadside, sidewalk, or pedestrian path.

On the sidewalk, speed must not exceed 6 km/h. However, from August 25, electric scooters will be banned from sidewalks and pedestrian paths. Riding on the roadside is only allowed for persons over 18 years old with any category of driver's license and a special helmet.

In the dark, reflective elements are mandatory. Additionally, transporting passengers or cargo on an electric scooter is prohibited. Pedestrian crossings must be crossed by dismounting from the scooter.
