In May 2026, 147,700 vehicles were registered in Kazakhstan, the Bureau of National Statistics reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Among them: passenger cars – 129,000; trucks – 8,700; buses – 1,300; motorcycles – 1,600; trailers – 3,600; other vehicles – 3,300.
As of June 1, 2026, a total of 5,995,000 vehicles were registered in Kazakhstan. Of these, 84.2% are passenger cars, 8.0% trucks, 4.3% trailers, 1.5% buses, 1.2% motorcycles, and 0.8% other vehicles.
By fuel type, 80% of vehicles run on gasoline, 7.6% on diesel, and 6.5% on mixed fuel. Gas-powered vehicles account for 0.4%.
There are 32,479 registered electric vehicles, making up 0.5% of the total. The largest numbers of EVs are registered in: Almaty city – 17,506 units; Astana city – 3,235 units; Almaty region – 2,857 units; Shymkent city – 1,042 units.
