Kazakhstan has seen the official launch of the updated e-government portal eGov 3.0, built on the unified QazTech platform. However, the large-scale technological upgrade immediately faced a strong wave of criticism from ordinary Kazakhstani citizens. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The launch of the new version was announced at a government meeting by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiev. According to him, the portal's previous infrastructure was operating at the limit of its technological capabilities, necessitating the migration of the service to the QazTech platform.
"Services are being maximally simplified and made convenient for users. Excessive requirements and steps are being eliminated. Some popular services are already available in the new format," Madiev said.
Despite the claimed optimization and reduced system load, the visual aspect and usability of the new site triggered a flurry of negative feedback on social media. Threads users criticized developers for poor typography, strange illustrations, and incorrect interface logic.
"What is the message behind this picture of a girl and a half-bloomed flower in the corner? This is not a commercial site; why wasn't the previous clear version with neat labels and readable fonts good enough? When will we learn to follow a certain correct ideology," reads a post.
Some users also pointed out the gloomy color scheme of the site, ironically noting that the design is done in mourning tones.
The editorial board has sent an official request to JSC "National Information Technologies" (JSC "NIT") asking to comment on the reasons for the design change and to respond to user complaints about the usability and visual design of the new eGov 3.0 portal.
Earlier, eGov Mobile reminded that users can now obtain a digital passport for their pets through the app. Kazakhstani citizens no longer need to carry paper documents for animals.
