At a meeting of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, amendments were made to Decision No. 36 of the EEC Board dated 6 March 2018. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

«The transitional provisions of the EAEU technical regulation „On the safety of oil prepared for transportation and/or use“ have been extended until 1 January 2030,» the EEC statement says.

According to the EEC, the extension is aimed at eliminating the risk of oil production halting at many fields.

«Currently, subsoil users cannot ensure the hydrogen sulfide content in oil within the limits established by the technical regulation, because there are insufficient safe hydrogen sulfide absorbers on the Union market,» the statement notes.

The EEC Board's decision enters into force 30 calendar days after its official publication.

Earlier, it was reported that the EAEU is ready to switch to electronic permits for international freight transport.
