Wedding During Ebola Outbreak: Love Lives Despite Restrictions

In the city of Bunia in the Democratic Republic of Congo, despite an Ebola outbreak, some families decided to hold weddings for their relatives. However, local authorities and the church introduced certain measures that had to be followed, although not everyone was happy about it. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.

Bride Solange Hahati said they invited 300 people to the wedding, but when they arrived at the church, church authorities allowed only 50 to enter. The Democratic Republic of Congo faced a new Ebola outbreak last May.

The wedding took place on June 6, 2026, in the province of Ituri, city of Bunia. Photographs captured the couple walking down the church aisle, the bride placing a ring on the groom's finger, and guests showering them with confetti.
