At a meeting of the profile working group of the Advisory Committee on Customs Regulation, new initiatives to optimize customs operations for express cargo and e-commerce goods were discussed, the EEC reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Among the main areas discussed at the meeting, experts discussed the automation of customs control.
Kazakhstan's proposal
The Kazakh side proposed adding specially coded information about prohibitions and restrictions to declarations for express cargo and e-commerce goods, said Kuat Rakhimov, head of the EEC Department of Customs Legislation and Law Enforcement Practice.
According to him, the use of codes will automate document verification. In the long term, this will significantly speed up customs operations and reduce delivery times for parcels.
Export of e-commerce goods
The second direction is the export of e-commerce goods. Particular attention was paid to the use of a simplified form of declaring e-commerce goods purchased by foreign individuals on marketplaces and online platforms in the EAEU countries.
This procedure is designed to facilitate local sellers' access to international markets, the statement said.
Working group
The Commission will prepare amendments to the procedure for filling out declarations for e-commerce goods. A working group on improving the procedure for customs operations in relation to express cargo and international postal items was established in 2018 under the Advisory Committee on Customs Regulation of the EEC Board.
Its scope includes declaring express cargo, international postal items, and e-commerce goods.
